cardiovascular system
supplies blood & oxygen to muscles & bones
carries blood to all of your body- circulation
arteries (oxygen-rich blood) & veins (carbon dioxide rich blood) carry blood
blood moves nutrients & gases
respiratory system
lungs, windpipe (trachea), alveoli
lungs absorb oxygen from air and allows it to enter the blood and removes carbon dioxide & nitrogen from the blood
bronchioles – tubes making a path into & out of lungs
digestive system
eating: saliva breaks down food & makes it easy to swallow
tongue helps push food back to the esophogas
peristalis moves food down the esophogas to the stomach
small intestine breaks down food so body can absorb nutrients
large intestine
liver: removes harmful substances, helps direct nutrients to the body or to storage
drinking water will help your digestive system
nervous system
like a highway between brain & body
controls movement
nerve cells, brain, spinal cord
sending receiving & processing nerve impulses throughout body
all systems rely on these nerve impulses to function
provide info about the environment
nerves connect whole body to brain
nerves transfer impulses to the body
touch sends signal to brain
central, peripheral & autonomic systems
